Linksys RE1000 Review

No reviews
Verdict: If you need to discreetly improve your home or office's wireless network, the RE1000's small size is a good solution, but the size sacrifices some other perks.
Pros: The Linksys RE1000 plugs into the wall
Cons: There is only one Ethernet port on the unit

Linksys RE1000 review

3.5
Verdict: Wi-Fi's great convenience is not having to lay metres of cable to set up a network. However, it only reaches so far before the signal falls off. One way to remedy that is to deploy a network extender such as the RE1000 from Linksys to carry the signal further and maintain its strength.

Cisco Linksys Wireless-N Range/Extender Bridge (RE1000)

4.0
Verdict: Cisco Linksys' Wireless-N Range/Extender Bridge (RE1000) is one of the best wireless extenders we've tested to date. Still, like many extenders we've tested, it's going to be pretty useless for distances exceeding 150 feet from a wireless router.
Pros:
Cons: Bulky design plugged into outlet. Slow performance at distance greater than 100 feet from router.

Cisco Linksys RE1000

No reviews
Verdict: People with crappy wireless coverage are suckers for products that promise to fix what ails them. "High power" routers are one cure and wireless repeaters, like the Cisco Linksys RE1000 that I'm looking at today are another. Repeaters can help get some sort of wireless signal into dead spots.

Linksys RE1000 review: Wi-Fi extender that's simple to set up

4.0
Verdict: Sturdy build is good thing as you may have to place your range extender in a prominent place in a room or corridor and the lack of external antennae and blinking lights all help it blend into the background.
Pros: Reasonably priced, Very easy to use
Cons: Usefulness may depend upon setup

Cisco Linksys RE1000

No reviews
Verdict: While it's easy to say that the Cisco Linksys RE1000 does it job and does it well, the main charm of it is its superb ease of setup and two different ways of usage. It's not without a few hitches, but it'll certainly let you reach further than usual.
Pros: Easy Setup, Wall-socket, desktop placement options
Cons: Only supports 2.4GHz bands

Kind of a let down

2.0
Verdict: As of right now, I'm bouncing back and forth between 2 to 3 bars. I'm writing this review with 3. Occasionally I can get 4 (out of 5), but that's rare. Before installing the range extender I was at a constant 2 bars. I live in a 2500 square foot brick house.
Pros: Looks very good, doesn't take up a lot of space, occasionally extends range
Cons: I'm a little disappointed by the product overall. First, the CD flat out didn't work. "Searching for Extender > Connecting to Extender > Setup failed." Every time. I had to plug this into the wall, connect to it directly via my connections manager, and set it up by logging into 192.168.1.1, clicking...

Helps some

4.5
Verdict: Item as described, and relatively easy set up. Had to do it a second time, as my router didn't seem to find it the first time. (Probably user error.) Once it is synced to the router you can easily move it anywhere. Seems to help with my range problem some, but not as much as I had hoped.

Cons:

This did the trick!

5.0
Verdict: We have a 3000 sq ft home with a first floor office on one far end of the home where our cable modem/router is housed. Unfortunately, our loft is on the total opposite end of the home on the second story and we had a very weak WiFi signal there.
Pros: Easy to Install, Easy to Use

Interferes with DHCP

2.0
Verdict: This thing seems to provide its own DHCP server, which messed up my network every time a device would associate with it. Worse, it was not at all obvious why this was happening...

" Too unstable to use "

LINKSYS RE1000-EU Wireless-N Range Extender/Bridge

4.0
Verdict: This range extender was easy to set up following the instructions. Crucial, I suspect to some people's problems in setting it up is that you must run the set up disc in a PC which is connected to your network wirelessly.
Pros: Ease of set up
Cons: Cost

Easy, Flexible,Simple and Perfect

4.0
Verdict: Most wireless extenders on the market require you to plug directly into your wireless router and broadcast an additional SSID. The Linksys RE1000 is a little different however as this one does not require you to plug directly into the router to extend the signal.

Buy something else.

1.0
Verdict: Just go buy a different WiFi extender
Pros: Has a wireless bridge built-in
Cons: To bad that wireless bridge isn't very fast, not to mention it crashes some Shaw networks if running for 2-3 days straight. I wasted 30$ (Got mine for 40$) on this thing

Unstable. Constant disconnections and unable to link back up. It needs a major overhaul

1.0
Verdict: I have set up..reset...set up..reset my extender too many times to count. I've spend no less than 6 hours in total talking to their technical staff to try to resolve my extender's repeated issues. What Ive been told is that it is probably faulty but they dont know why.

Great!!!! Great!!!!

4.0
Verdict: With CD, the installation is very easy. The repeater need to be near setup computer and wireless router. Once the setup is done, you can locate the repeater far away from the router. That's all you need for setting up (don't even connect any wire to router or computer).
Pros: Easy To Set Up
Cons: No Power Onoff Button

Slowed connection down

3.0
Verdict: The unit did what it says. It did increase the signal strength. However, once introduces to the network it caused wireless throughput overall to decrease. Before adding to network avg throughput was 14000 kbps, after range extender it was around 5200 kbps.
Pros: price and ease of use
Cons: slowed connection speed

Very deceiving product

1.0
Verdict: Simply does not work, similar to other reviews. Owned it for about 6 months. It connects, so you think it is improving network coverage. However, we have had MORE problems. Sitting in the room with unit plugged in, signal strength will vacillate between 75% to 20%...
Pros: Relatively easy setup
Cons: No value. Actually makes coverage worse
